Mrs. Brown (1997)
No list of British monarchs would be complete without something from Queen Victoria —the woman who ruled the British Empire when it was arguably at its peak (from 1837 to 1901) and gave a whole age her name. This film, starring an excellent Judi Dench as the queen, focuses in on the grieving monarch (who lost her beloved Prince Albert in 1861) and her quiet, controversial relationship with her Scottish servant, John Brown. The film earned Dench an Oscar nom for her work.
