Henry V (1989)

The British monarchy is full of Henrys, but perhaps this one is the most beloved in Britain. He didn’t rule England very long: from 1413 to 1422, but he did lead England to victory over France in the famous Battle of Agincourt and practically conquered the whole country. In fact, he would’ve theoretically inherited France had he lived a wee bit longer. No surprise that Shakespeare would write one of his most famous plays about the famous king. But it was a bit of shock when a young upstart thespian named Kenneth Branagh turned an adaptation of the play into a box office hit (relatively speaking) and earned Branagh Oscar noms as both actor and director. Here he is orating the famed “Band of Brothers” speech.
