Katana

We move, for the moment, from Western religion to Eastern mysticism—but one that still embraces the immortality of the soul.

A good many souls reside in Katana’s signature blade, including that of her husband (killed, in DC lore, by his own brother). As such, Katana is sometimes shown in the movie speaking to the sword, as if in prayer.

While not a part of the movie, DC suggests that the souls stored within Katana’s sword can be brought forth through a special ritual, forced to obey the summoner (not unlike medieval occultists believed that spirits and demons can be controlled). More recent comic iterations of the character suggest that the sword is some sort of sacred, magical totem that can bestow enlightenment on the bearer.
