Right now, I’m on a flight to Denver with eight of my best guy friends. We’re driving from Denver to Beaver Creek where we’ll be snowboarding all week. Snowboarding is probably my favorite thing on Earth to do, so needless to say, I’ve been looking forward to this trip since we booked it back in October.

What I will undoubtably miss while I’m gone is my sweet little family back home. Which leads me to the point of today’s blog post. Not once has Catherine urged me not to go on this trip even though I’ll be leaving her alone all week to take care of our seven month old son. If you’ve ever raised kids, you know taking care of a seven month old isn’t always easy and can sometimes lead to you pulling your hair out.

But Catherine knows how much I love snowboarding and knows how much I’ll enjoy spending the week with my closest friends and she’s been nothing but supportive since the beginning. In other words, she’s being extremely selfless because she loves me and wants to make me happy even though it makes things tougher on her. It’s times like these where I have to check myself and ask myself if I’ve shown her the same selflessness lately. And truthfully, I don’t think I have.

Since being married, Catherine has loved me with a love I didn’t even know existed before meeting her. This ski trip is just one small example but it’s a good reminder to me that I need to reciprocate the amazing love and selflessness she shows me on a daily basis.
