Schaeffer’s Ghost’s Summer Vacation

Schaeffer’s Ghost’s Summer Vacation May 29, 2013

By THE EDITORS

As Schaeffer’s Ghost approaches its first anniversary, we want to share some news, brag a little bit, and give you advance notice on some upcoming free stuff.

First, we want to say “thank you” to our readers. Time and again we’ve enjoyed the responses to our posts from our readership, including comments from a few authors whose books we’ve reviewed here. Hearing from readers is a big part of what keeps us writing. So thank you, and please keep reading and commenting.

Second, we’re happy to announce that we’ve hit 50,000 unique page views over the life of our blog. With several hundred Twitter followers (@SchaeffersGhost) and 30,000 visitors, we’ve been humbled to see the reach of our little site grow. As part of that growth, we have a Facebook page where you can see all our reviews posted and talk with us and other readers. (Please “like” us.)

Third, we are slowing down our publication schedule for the summer. Almost all of us have some major life change going on over the next few months (new jobs, moving, a new baby, graduate school), leaving less time for reading, watching, and writing. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, we’ll be posting three days per week, on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Fourth, because there are so many of you, we’ve all become overnight millionaires through blogging, and now we want to shower you with cash. And by “millionaire” I mean “a couple bucks” and by “shower with cash” I mean “give away a few books.”

We’re still working out the logistics of how best to do this, but keep an eye on Schaeffer’s Ghost over the next few days for more information about what you can win and how you can win it.

Finally, if free books simply aren’t enough for you, please consider writing for us. We are actively recruiting writers. Please see our submission guidelines if you’d like to give it a shot.

Once again, thank you all for reading, following, and commenting. We look forward to another year of reading books and watching movies with you.
