4. Being more concerned with having the public image of a happy family than with actually having a happy family.
We all scroll through social media looking at our friends’ highlight reels and we feel the need to compete with showing highlight reels of our own. We try to capture that perfect moment and add the perfect filter to project the image of a perfect family. The trouble is that our attempt to show perfection often means we’re not present in the actual moment. We’re so busy trying to capture just the right image that we forget to just enjoy the moment with our kids. We’re so preoccupied with seeming like we have it all together, that we forget that our kids don’t need us to be perfect; they just need us to be present.
