She said, “I want to raise our family with you, but I CAN do this without you. I’m raising these kids and running our home without you already, so I need you to decide right now if you want to be married to me or if you want to be married to your job.”
He said, “I was assuming that I was a ‘good’ husband, because I had never cheated on her and I was providing financially. I thought that’s all it meant to be a husband. I though she was content to run the house and I’d make the money and we were a team, but we WEREN’T a team. I was never home. My job had become my first love and top priority, but my job didn’t need my love; my wife did! My wife needed a true partner. She needed a friend. She needed ME, and my kids needed a Dad, but I was too busy building my resume to focus time on building my marriage. I realized that if I didn’t change I was going to lose my family.”
