We want to treat people the way people treat us, but God calls us to treat people the way He treats us (with kindness, grace and compassion). God never calls us to be a “doormat” allowing others (even a spouse) to walk all over us, but within the context of loving boundaries, we should be incredibly gracious and forgiving to each other in marriage. Instead of complaining about your spouse or nagging your spouse, try praying for your spouse. Your spouse usually needs love the most in the moments when he/she “deserves” it the least!
