Remake of “Beaches” stars Idina Menzel in the Bette Midler role

Were you a fan of “Beaches” the tear jerker of a movie starring Bette Midler and Barbara Hershey in 1988? I don’t know how many weddings in the late 80s and 90s featured “The Wind Beneath My Wings” as the first dance for the happy couple, but that movie kept Kleenex in business for at least a decade. It’s movie about women and the twists and turns of a lifelong friendship.

Well, a new version is back on Lifetime on January 21st starring Idina Menzel as CC (the Bette Midler character) and Nia Long as Hillary (the Barbara Hershey character). Wonder what fans of the original Beaches will think of this modern take?
