6 year old competitor doesn’t win spelling bee, but wins our hearts

Akash Vukoti is a homeschooled 6 year old and a genius at spelling.  He spelled “spoon” at 18 months and has taken off from there, competing in spelling bees since he was two! As the youngest competitor in this year’s National Spelling Bee, he made it to the third round and was eliminated by the word “bacteriolytic”.  Along the way, he managed to impress everyone with his big personality and talent.  This video of Akash  explaining his spelling methods is a must see – he is both adorable and smart as a whip.
