Happiness memes are all over the internet and they make us…so happy!

When I was a child I adored a book called “Happiness is Warm Puppy” by Charles Schultz with a picture of Lucy hugging Snoopy. Do you remember that book? If you’re young, you won’t know what I’m talking about! It was a small square hardback book with a pink cover I probably read 1000…maybe 5000 times. Each page had a cartoon drawing and a quote such as, “Happiness is finding the little piece with the pink edge and part of the sky and the top of the sailboat.” It was simple and charming and if I could get my hands on it right now, I’d hug it to my chest like a long lost friend!

Life these days isn’t nearly as simple as it used to be, but surprisingly, the things that make us happy are. Lisa Swerling’s has written a book, “Happiness Is: 500 Things to be Happy About” and her memes about happiness are all over the internet. Her drawings are sweet, her sentiments are simple and sometimes simplicity is what we’re longing for in this complicated world. She captures the small things that make us smile and her book helps us become more attuned and grateful for all the things that make the days a bit softer.
