We’ve all heard of the Heimlich Maneuver, a move that has saved countless of people from choking to death since the 1970s. The amazing thing is, Dr. Henry Heimlich who invented this maneuver to help clear a blocked airway had never used it himself until this week!  A woman sitting next to him began choking on a hamburger. Heimlich quickly sprung into action, got behind her and performed three compressions. The third one worked like a charm. The woman, Patty Ris (87) wrote a note to Heimlich that said, “God put me in this seat next to you.”

Below are two videos – the first of Dr. Heimlich following the incident and then an interview of the woman he saved. Let’s just say those were pretty good moves for a 96 year old guy and he saved a sweetheart of a gal!
