A successful men’s retreat begins well in advance – by organizing men into teams. Build relationships and team identity long before the retreat begins. Help the men bond by issuing team challenges throughout the weekend. And keep the team structure and point system going after the retreat concludes.
I’m going to use my next three blog entries to lay out a plan for a different kind of men’s retreat. This week we’ll look at how we might call and organize men into teams before the retreat takes place.
Jesus did not shy away from the promise of reward. He did not worry that he might appeal to the flesh. He showed us that it’s perfectly healthy to motivate men by helping them understand the rewards they accumulate when they serve the kingdom of God.
