Have you ever had one of those days when you’ve thought to yourself–or even said out loud–“I. Am. Done!”? Well, this has kind of been a recurring theme for me during this parenting season.  I’m exhausted, and I feel like I never have enough time for…well, anything…or anyone, for that matter.  But, then I was reminded of these four simple words today…

“This too shall pass”.

That’s it.  Those four simple words hit my ears like church bells this morning.  I heard them on a cooking show of all places, but I felt like God used that statement to remind me that this crazy season is passing quickly.  These four words are comforting and convicting all at the same time.

I was coming off of our hectic morning routine of getting our two older boys up, fed, and ready for school right before I heard those words.

I had just sat down to sip on–okay, gulp down–some much-needed coffee and was folding mounds of laundry that should’ve been done days ago.

And, the baby was crying because he had a dirty diaper.

And, I’d just received a message from the doctor’s office stating that if we missed another appointment, we’d have to be released from their practice.  How could we have missed SO MANY?  Seriously?

And, then I couldn’t find our four year-old for a minute.  I searched the room and saw the front door wide open.  Help me.

But, just as I started to head out the front door, chasing down my four year-old-in his UNDERWEAR while screaming and crying to go ride his tricycle– I heard those four simple words.

Yeah.  I needed those words.  And, I will probably need them tomorrow as well.

4 Reasons Every Couple Needs TIME AWAY from the Kids

Can you relate, Sweet Mama?  Are you exhausted? Do you feel overwhelmed?  You are not alone.  Raising kids is hard, not to mention juggling the many other hats we wear…working, keeping a house, cooking dinner, attending activities, volunteering at church, and the list goes on and on.

It’s a crazy season.  But, it’s crazy beautiful too.

We may change diaper after diaper, but nothing is better than an involuntary baby giggle while wiping those chubby cheeks.

We may be running late in the morning, but extra morning cuddles make it all worth it.

And, honestly, a missed doctor’s appointment can be rescheduled.  Or, I could get a lot better at writing them all down on a calendar.  Anyways…

Sometimes, we just need a moment to breath and take in the crazy beautiful, kid-FULL life we have.  It doesn’t mean we can’t acknowledge that much of this season is hard, messy, stressful, and frustrating, but it does mean that we might need to remind ourselves that “this too shall pass” before this season is nothing more than a memory.

Thank you so much for reading, sharing, and responding.  I’d love to connect with you on FacebookPinterest, and Instagram.  Be blessed!
