Carrie Underwood’s “Little” Secret to a Strong Marriage

Carrie Underwood’s “Little” Secret to a Strong Marriage July 12, 2016

Carrie Underwood fan or not, it’s encouraging and refreshing to see the country star and her husband, Mike Fisher, putting family first in the midst of the bright spotlight.  Underwood revealed the secret to their marital bliss in recent article on People.com.  And, it’s not what you’d expect…

When asked about the secret to her thriving marriage, Underwood revealed that it’s all about the “little things.”

In an interview with People, Underwood described how she appreciate the seemingly small gestures of kindness that her husband does in stating,

“I’m the kind of person that’s like, ‘Aw, you changed the light bulb in the bathroom. Thank you.’ Or ‘You took the trash out. Aw.’ ‘Oh, my gosh, you emptied the dishwasher, yay! I don’t have to do it now.  I like that stuff. Everyday stuff.”

I love that!  And, she is so right.

The LITTLE ACTS OF KINDNESS we do every day often determine the course our marriage takes.

And, our ability to NOTICE and COMMEND these thoughtful actions is just as important.

It takes BOTH the little kind gestures and the words of appreciation to cultivate a strong marriage, AND both the husband and wife must be fully invested in carrying these out.

So, next time your spouse empties the dishwasher, mows the yard, or cooks your favorite meal, be sure to tell him/her how much you appreciate it.  And, be thinking about some little acts of kindness that you can do for your spouse to brighten his/her day and take something off of his/her plate.  These “little things” will make a BIG difference in your marriage.
